Pre-Wedding Tips

To all the beautiful newly engaged brides-to-be, congratulations on your engagement.

It doesn't matter what wedding magazine or website you look at, they are telling you similar things to get the best wedding day look. My experience in the industry of makeup, in addition to being a Minnesota License Advanced Esthetician, I would like to share with you what routine is best to do to get the best looking skin, all leading up to your big wedding day.

First, you need to start with the basics: Cleanse, Tone, Treat, such as exfoliate, mask, and serums, then Moisturize. Get into a regular routine of taking care of your skin on the outside, as well as the inside, by eating right, and taking a good multi-mineral and multi-vitamin. You should also seek professional help to get that deep cleaning done every 4 to 6 weeks starting 1 year prior to your wedding date. What? Don't have a year before your wedding? No problem, I have packages that start as little as 3 and 6 months before your wedding.

Seeing a professional skin therapist will be able to extract those blackheads and clogged pores properly without scaring your face prior to your big day. A professional will minimize any discomfort while extracting and repairing any issues that you may have leading up to your big day caused by the stress of planning.

While being treated by a professional, you may want to think about how you want your pictures to look, you do not want to have any peach fuzz. Consider facial hair removal, whether it is your lip, chin, or brow, you want to make sure that it is eliminated all together, with Dermaplaning.

If you use makeup on a regular basis, make sure that you are cleansing your face every day, especially in the evening. Your skin cells renew from the stress of the day and free radicals (pollutants) at night. By cleansing makeup and other contaminants from your face, you are giving your skin the opportunity to renew, and prevent premature aging from occurring. The second part of your makeup routine, if using brushes to apply your makeup, and make sure that you are washing them on a regular bases to kill any bacteria that could be building up, and causing harm to your skin. Brushes should be wash with an anti-bacterial soap and water at least once a week, minimally. After a good cleaning, let them air dry with the bristles down, to prevent mold or mildew from occurring in the shaft of the brush.

This is the beauty from the outside, what about the inside? Your skin reflects what you eat as well. I am not a nutritionist, however, drinking plenty of water and reducing your processed foods, prevent your skin from break outs. Water, flushes away toxins that you may be contained in certain foods; it also helps hydrate your skin.

The key to all of this, would be to start early with your skin care routine. In my experience, you do not want to start too late, in trying to get a good skin care routine shortly before your bid day. Why, you may ask? Because many things can go wrong when you introduce wrong or harsh products,  such as scaring, you will have enough things on your mind, you do not want your skin to be one of them.

Hopefully you have found the above information helpful in preparing for your wedding day. But I would also recommend investing in getting a professional hair and makeup artist to pamper you on your wedding day, to help relieve this stress. You are already nervous and you do not need to have added stress of making sure your eyeliner is straight or even.

First and foremost, if you want the professional look for your photos, I recommend hiring a professional, either at a salon or someone like myself, which will eliminate stress and time contracts on your big day, by coming to you. There are tons of examples of brides who tried to take a shortcut, but wished they didn't when they look at those professional pictures that captured your big day. Most brides have hired a professional wedding planner; and have customized designed dress; so it just make sense to hire a professional to look your best.

I hope that you have found this information informative, so if you are ready to take the first step, let me help you put your best face forward. I am happy to answer any questions, offer advice, consultations, lessons, and that professional look on your wedding day.
