How Are You Doing On Your Resolutions or Goals?

January is coming to a close, how have your resolutions and/or goals going? Are you keeping up with them? Was it to lose weight, or maybe eat healthier? Perhaps you wanted to spend less money or spend more time with your friends and family? Whatever it is or was, it is not too late to get back on the bandwagon to start again. Just do it for 21 days, and it has become a habit. But why do so many of us fail at goal-setting? Are there secrets to help us succeed?

Keep it Simple
Many of us use the New Year as an opportunity to make large bucket lists or attempt extreme makeovers, whether personal or professional. This is nice, but the average person has so many competing priorities that this type of approach is doomed to failure. Essentially, you end up failing to launch in the first place. The first solution, is keep your list short. It is sensible to set "small, attainable goals throughout the year, rather than a singular, overwhelming goal". It is the act of recognizing that lifestyle change is important and working towards it, one step at a time.

Make it Tangible
Setting ambitious resolutions can be fun and inspiring, but the difficulty in achieving them can lead to frustration. That is why goals should be bound by rational, achievable metrics. Be specific. Don't say you are "going start", but rather set a clear ambition. If you cannot measure it, it is not a very good resolution because vague goals beget vague resolutions.

Make it Obvious
Chart your goals in some fashion. There is no universal strategy for success, but making a "to-do list" as a reminder has worked from some. While for others, a "vision board" or personal diaries have helps keep their goals in front of them. Share your goals with your friends and family, to build accountability.

Keep Believing You Can Do It
Setting a goal raises your chance of achieving it, but within weeks or months, people begin to abandon them as they hit bumps along the road, and throw them off their tracks. Keep your goals in front of you and be accountable by sharing them.

Here are some tips for staying healthy during the back-to-school season: Wash your hands often.  This is the single most important thing you can do to prevent the spread of germs. Oncology Skincare and Maria's Gift from GlyMed Plus

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same. Aside from skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women today. Today, when you look around, you will see the unique things people are doing to help promote awareness of this disease and the efforts to find a cure. You cannot help be touched by all the different ways professional athletes and coaches are showing their support. From pink shoes, pink sweatbands, and pink ribbon stickers on helmets, it is great to see then all get involved. If you or someone you know is undergoing treatments, GlyMed Plus, the skincare line that I use and carry in my studio, has a program called "Maria's Gift".  Maria's Gift helps breast cancer survivors by donating GlyMed Plus professional pr...

Role Models

November is National Inspirational Role Models Month . No matter your age, gender, or stage in file, having someone who inspires you to be the best version of yourself is always a positive thing. Perhaps it is a friend, a celebrity or an activist. Whether the person is high-profile or not isn’t important. Their character and ability to inspire, guide, and teach carries much more value. This month let’s focus on the person who motivates you and thank them for their leadership. I would like you to share who inspires you? I’ve mentioned some of the characteristics of a role model, but let’s go into more detail. A  role model  is a person other people look up to in order to help determine appropriate behaviors.  Role models  can be either positive or negative. ... Virtually anyone can be a  role model , but in Western culture, publicly visible figures such as athletes, actors, musicians, and celebrities are the most common  examples , which are not always...
