New You for a New Year

Time has flown by as we look back on all we have accomplished in the past year, we can't help but wonder what even happened to those New Year's resolutions we made! Some we kept, which others have been forgotten, but it has been a great year nonetheless.

What resolutions can we not wait to try?
  • Get more sleep.
  • Find a type of exercise you love and stick to it.
  • Make more time to spend with friends.
  • Stop sweating the small stuff and worry less.
  • Compliment yourself, be comfortable in your own skin, and always believe in yourself!
  • Put yourself first every once in awhile.
  • Travel more and be adventurous.
  • Volunteer to help others in need.
  • Start your own business (there are a lot of great entrepreneurial adventures out there - I am willing to speak and help those who are interested in this idea.)
  • Read a new book.
  • Go see a movie! (Buy some popcorn!)
  • Make something off of Pinterest!
  • Write handwritten "Thank You" notes.
  • Pamper yourself with a trip to the salon. (Get more pedicures or facials.)
  • Organize your life, even your wallet!
  • Create an emergency kit.
  • Create a savings plan.
  • Refresh your makeup bag.
  • Bake a treat for your neighbors.
  • Soak in a hot bath...until the water cools!
  • Light a candle while you clean.
  • Get outside! Go to the park on a beautiful day.
  • Splurge and buy yourself some flowers.
  • Take on a new challenge.
Commit to at least one of the above resolutions this year (2016), we bet that it will be your best year yet! Resolve to start living your best life. In case you are wondering how to change our life and yourself as the new year approaches, resolutions are made and broken. We all need some encouragement and help. Every year we consciously or unconsciously, through the process of what we call life, creates a certain image, a certain personality of ourself. This image that you have created within ourselves has nothing to do with reality. It has nothing to do with the self, our inner nature. It is a certain image that you have built, most of the time unconsciously. Very few have built a conscious image of themselves. We have all built images according to whatever kind of patterns or external situation they fell into.

Now, why don't we create a new self-image consciously, the way we really want to be? But you have to be willing to leave the old one. You can create that kind of image which supports you the best, that kind of image which created maximum harmony around you, that kind of image which has least friction. You create that kind of an image which is closest to your inner nature. What kind of an image do you think is closest to your inner nature? Visualize this new image as powerfully as you can. Make it alive within yourself. Tell me, what is this new self-image that you have created?

I know that I will be working on not just 1, but 2 of the above personally. But I also have some business goals that I will be working on, as I have accomplished most of last years business and/or resolution goals. I would love to hear your resolution and/or goal.

Back to School and Staying Healthy

Back to School: Staying Healthy in the Classroom and Beyond The start of the school year is an exciting time for kids and parents alike. But it can also be a time when germs are easily spread, especially in close quarters like classrooms and school buses. Here are some tips for staying healthy during the back-to-school season: Wash your hands often.  This is the single most important thing you can do to prevent the spread of germs. Be sure to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, especially after using the bathroom, before eating, and after being around someone who is sick.

Oncology Skincare and Maria's Gift from GlyMed Plus

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same. Aside from skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women today. Today, when you look around, you will see the unique things people are doing to help promote awareness of this disease and the efforts to find a cure. You cannot help be touched by all the different ways professional athletes and coaches are showing their support. From pink shoes, pink sweatbands, and pink ribbon stickers on helmets, it is great to see then all get involved. If you or someone you know is undergoing treatments, GlyMed Plus, the skincare line that I use and carry in my studio, has a program called "Maria's Gift".  Maria's Gift helps breast cancer survivors by donating GlyMed Plus professional pr...

Role Models

November is National Inspirational Role Models Month . No matter your age, gender, or stage in file, having someone who inspires you to be the best version of yourself is always a positive thing. Perhaps it is a friend, a celebrity or an activist. Whether the person is high-profile or not isn’t important. Their character and ability to inspire, guide, and teach carries much more value. This month let’s focus on the person who motivates you and thank them for their leadership. I would like you to share who inspires you? I’ve mentioned some of the characteristics of a role model, but let’s go into more detail. A  role model  is a person other people look up to in order to help determine appropriate behaviors.  Role models  can be either positive or negative. ... Virtually anyone can be a  role model , but in Western culture, publicly visible figures such as athletes, actors, musicians, and celebrities are the most common  examples , which are not always...
