Fall Makeup Trends

This fall it is all about having a Statement Piece that carries out your look - keep the rest of the face simple, toning down the heavy contouring and letting your focal point shine. What do I mean by this? Continue reading.

Messy Liner

Caffeine addicts rejoice! Perfectly imperfect liner. Chunky, smudgy, or all over the waterline - anything goes, especially if it ends up doing it anyway throughout day, you are in! That is the beauty of this trend. I have always smudged my bottom liner, but now I can also use an eyeshadow to also smudge it out. You can make it look very high fashion or grungy, and I am obsessed.

Winged Shadow

Popping up on red carpets everywhere is a soft winged shadow look. It is a perfect way to wear a sultry eye but remain soft and a little under the radar. You can literally use any tone of shadow for this, but lately I've been using a lot of warm rustic tones, especially a matte bronzer, because it is not as pigmented as shadow.

Highlighted Lips

We see trends from the past make their way back into circulation, but in a new modern form. The frosted/metallic lip is making a comeback. The good news is you don't have to go out and buy new products, just top your favorite lip color with highlighting powder.

Spider Lashes

Okay, Okay, I know many of you have said it, and I know that I have, but they are in. If you want to look like that old doll with the moving eyes, this is for you. This look accentuates both the top and bottom lashes. Making sure to curl the top lashes, apply multiple coats of mascara. The idea is not to have chunky messy lashes with too much product, but rather to elongate and define each lash, especially the bottom. To avoid looking too doll-like, I would use a brown mascara (or brow gel) on the bottom lashes instead of black. It takes the harsh edge off.

Lastly, but the most important. Skin

Do you every look at someone and your immediate reaction is "WOW they have beautiful skin..."? That is what this trend is all about. A primary focus on the radiance of the skin. It is more difficult to achieve that it sounds. Rather than over highlighting the face, it is about moisture, balance, and an overall clean makeup. Groomed brows, lightly filled and brushed slightly up. Curled lashes and clear mascar. Add a moisturizer, or light absorbing oil (like Bio-Oil) to your foundation.Brighten up under the eyes with a lighter town of foundation rather than a concealer. Finish up with a medium sheen lip balm.
