Veterans Day!

Lash year I wrote about some highlighted feature of November, and Veteran's Day was one of them. I decided this year that I would write about some facts about Veteran's Day.
  • In 1968, the Uniform Holidays Bill was passed by Congress, which moved the celebration of Veterans Day to the fourth Monday in October. The law wen into effect in 1971, but in 1975 President Form returned Veterans Day to November 11th, due to the important historical significance of the date.
  • Britain, France, Australia, and Canada also commemorate the veterans of World Wars I and II on or near November 11th: Canada has Remembrance Day, while Britain has Remembrance Sunday (the 2nd Sunday of November ). In Europe, Britain and the Commonwealth countries it is common to observe two minutes of silence of 11 am every November 11th. U.S. observes silence and a brief suspension of business.
  • Disney made films for during World War II, for each branch of the United States government.
  • Approximately 90% of Disney employees worked in the making of propaganda and training videos during World War II.
  • Today, there exists about 1.6 million female veterans.
  • Raymond Weeks, a World War II veteran, came up with the idea of honoring all veterans and not just the ones who have died.
  • In 2009, it has been reported an estimated 21.9 million veterans.
  • The median income for veterans in 2009 was approximately $35,000 a year.
  • California have more U.S. Military veterans than any other state.
  • Lastly, There is not supposed to be an apostrophe in Veterans Day. Still some spell it Veteran's Day or Veterans' Day.

Role Models

November is National Inspirational Role Models Month . No matter your age, gender, or stage in file, having someone who inspires you to be the best version of yourself is always a positive thing.
