Spring is also Prom and Wedding Season

April not only kicks off the Spring season, but also prom and the season filled with shrieks and cries from the newly engaged as mailboxes drown with Save the Date and bank accounts wither from bridesmaid expenses. Some are willing to acknowledge the coming onslaught of bridal showers and Pinterest Party favors. Yes, you guessed it, Weddings.

Brides and prom girls: did you make sure that you had a hair and makeup artists? You do not want to the DIY hair and makeup and find that you wished you hired a hair and makeup artist, when you get those pictures back and see that your face look shiny or you hair looks like it always does, but maybe curls, do you? If you are thinking of hiring a hair and makeup artist, you will need to plan at least 4 to 6 months in advance, as many artists get booked a year out from referrals from previous year(s) brides and bridesmaids.

Brides: remember to not get engrossed in all the wedding plans, remember that this journey is about the rest of your lives, not just one day. I understand that there is a lot of work that goes into planning a wedding, as I remember my wedding planning 12 years ago. Yes, we had a planner, as we got married at Disney because my husband worked for them and we knew the quality they carried, but more time and effort goes into a marriage, and that is what is more important. It is very easy to get wrapped up in the excitement of planning for the biggest day of your lives, planning and making sure that you have everything checked off before the wedding, but make it fun and memorable experience as well.

We all need to work on our marriage until “death do us part”. It is not a 1 year, or even 10, 25, or even 50 year commitment, it is forever. Marriage is to be fulfilling, joyous, comforting, and loving, but there is also difficult days. It is important to discuss your plans after the wedding, by discussing the big issues before they take the final walk down the aisle. Some of these big issues are as follows:
  • How can your partner make you happy on a daily basis?
  • Besides love, what is your main reason for marring your partner?
  • What does the word “compromise” mean to you and how will you apply it to your marriage?
  • Who will do the majority of the household chores or how will they be divided.
  • If you plan to have children, how many would you want and when would you like to start growing your family?
  • How much of your income would you like to save?
  • Where would you like to eventually live: beach, city, suburbs?
  • How do you prefer to spend your free time?
  • Are you impulsive or a planner? How do you deal with the unexpected?
  • Do you share the same level of religious commitment?
  • How will your resolve disputes?
  • What’s your 5-year plan (both personally and professionally)?

Back to School: Staying Healthy in the Classroom and Beyond The start of the school year is an exciting time for kids and parents alike. But it can also be a time when germs are easily spread, especially in close quarters like classrooms and school buses. Here are some tips for staying healthy during the back-to-school season: Wash your hands often.  This is the single most important thing you can do to prevent the spread of germs. Be sure to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, especially after using the bathroom, before eating, and after being around someone who is sick.

Oncology Skincare and Maria's Gift from GlyMed Plus

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same. Aside from skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women today. Today, when you look around, you will see the unique things people are doing to help promote awareness of this disease and the efforts to find a cure. You cannot help be touched by all the different ways professional athletes and coaches are showing their support. From pink shoes, pink sweatbands, and pink ribbon stickers on helmets, it is great to see then all get involved. If you or someone you know is undergoing treatments, GlyMed Plus, the skincare line that I use and carry in my studio, has a program called "Maria's Gift".  Maria's Gift helps breast cancer survivors by donating GlyMed Plus professional pr...

Role Models

November is National Inspirational Role Models Month . No matter your age, gender, or stage in file, having someone who inspires you to be the best version of yourself is always a positive thing. Perhaps it is a friend, a celebrity or an activist. Whether the person is high-profile or not isn’t important. Their character and ability to inspire, guide, and teach carries much more value. This month let’s focus on the person who motivates you and thank them for their leadership. I would like you to share who inspires you? I’ve mentioned some of the characteristics of a role model, but let’s go into more detail. A  role model  is a person other people look up to in order to help determine appropriate behaviors.  Role models  can be either positive or negative. ... Virtually anyone can be a  role model , but in Western culture, publicly visible figures such as athletes, actors, musicians, and celebrities are the most common  examples , which are not always...
