Welcome

Good Afternoon All,

Welcome and thank you for vising my blog site, which will be linked to be website www.JoAnnMRomeo.com soon, as well, therefore you will be able to follow me and read on my website or here.

I do, however, want to let you know that I have completed a busy week of helping a Minnesota Photography Student with her final project, where she had to have 10 models in different lighting, outfits, and makeup as if on a professional fashion model photo shoot. I did the hair and makeup, we had Samantha Rei provide the designs from her own collection, and Stephanie Erickson take the pictures for her project. (Photos to be coming soon.) We started last Sunday and we worked every day, almost, but Stephanie did work everyday as she he other models using body paint to take pictures for the project, and we finished yesterday with the final model ending around 8 pm. It was fun and I did many different looks with both hair and makeup to complete the outfit.

Other that this, I have done photo shoots and fashion shows for Wilhelmina Minneapolis and Drive Management. I have also done some classes for local Modeling Agencies teaching the models and talents why it is important to hire a Professional Makeup Artist vs going to a salon, doing it yourself, or even going to a department store counter. I have also had the pleasure to work with some talented photographers, like Shelley Anderson Photography, Karen Tobler Photography, and J&G Photography.

If you are interested in using me for services, I can be reached via phone and email. Prices are available upon request, but I also do individual evaluations for skin care and makeup education and/or assistance, as well as skin care and makeup parties.

Thanks and have a great day.
JoAnn M Romeo

Back to School: Staying Healthy in the Classroom and Beyond The start of the school year is an exciting time for kids and parents alike. But it can also be a time when germs are easily spread, especially in close quarters like classrooms and school buses. Here are some tips for staying healthy during the back-to-school season: Wash your hands often.  This is the single most important thing you can do to prevent the spread of germs. Be sure to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, especially after using the bathroom, before eating, and after being around someone who is sick.

Oncology Skincare and Maria's Gift from GlyMed Plus

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same. Aside from skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women today. Today, when you look around, you will see the unique things people are doing to help promote awareness of this disease and the efforts to find a cure. You cannot help be touched by all the different ways professional athletes and coaches are showing their support. From pink shoes, pink sweatbands, and pink ribbon stickers on helmets, it is great to see then all get involved. If you or someone you know is undergoing treatments, GlyMed Plus, the skincare line that I use and carry in my studio, has a program called "Maria's Gift".  Maria's Gift helps breast cancer survivors by donating GlyMed Plus professional pr...

Role Models

Perhaps it is a friend, a celebrity or an activist. Whether the person is high-profile or not isn’t important. Their character and ability to inspire, guide, and teach carries much more value. This month let’s focus on the person who motivates you and thank them for their leadership. I would like you to share who inspires you? I’ve mentioned some of the characteristics of a role model, but let’s go into more detail. A  role model  is a person other people look up to in order to help determine appropriate behaviors.  Role models  can be either positive or negative. ... Virtually anyone can be a  role model , but in Western culture, publicly visible figures such as athletes, actors, musicians, and celebrities are the most common  examples , which are not always...
