Back to School and Nutrition

Parents, are you ready for back to school? Are you ready to start getting up earlier, planning the car pools, shopping for school supplies? Well, it is that time. You started to see the school supplies and commercials the end of June. You were thinking, "They just got out for summer break. I can't think about this now." Well it is the end of August and their first day is right around the corner. Getting ready for the shift into the school schedules isn't all about the No. 2 pencils. It is time to think about how we have approached helping our students handle the work of school as well as the large work of growing up and learning how to manage themselves. This means planning a head for homework, both physically and mentally. Physically by the space and supplies, and mentally by how much help with planning or learning does each child need?

How to Choose the Right Skin Care Product

Are you sick of going to the skin care aisle to pick up skin care product, only to find out when you get home and start using it, that it is not the right one for you? You are not alone, there are many others out there like you who have a closet full of skin care products that they are no longer using, or cannot use. First of all, if those products have been in your closet for more than a year, you should throw them out, especially if they have been opened. If they have not been opened, donate them to a shelter, you can write it off as a donation on your taxes.

Moisturizer...How to Choose the Best One

Last week spoke of choosing the right sunscreen, well what about a moisturizer? I get that questions a lot, what is the best moisturizer for my skin? What I like to do when I get asked this questions, especially when I am in my studio, I ask if I can analyze them under my skin analysis machine. If they are wearing makeup and a sunscreen, I will have them wash it off to get an accurate reading, and then analyze them. But if they ask me while I am out and overhear someone in the skincare aisle looking for a moisturizer or even a skincare system. I will first ask if I can ask them a few questions, and let them know that I am a skin therapist and may be able to help them choose. I will then let them know that I can get a more accurate ready if they come in to my studio to do an analysis and choose the best skincare and moisturizer for them.

How to Choose a Sunscreen?

We've been talking about sunburns: what they are and how to soothe them. Now let's take a look at how we can prevent them by choosing a sunscreen. Choosing a sunscreen is not as easy as it used to be, there are so many options out there, but trying to compare one sunscreen to another can be complicated.

Sunburn....How to Soothe and Care for it.

Getting a sunburn looks and feels bad by hurting, peeling and inflicts long-lasting, wrinkle-inducing damage. It is especially bad for children: even 1 blistering burn may double their lifetime risk of melanoma. The pain, redness, and occasional blistering that you experience when you have a sunburn happens because you exposed your skin to more sun than it was designed to handle.
